Acoustic estimation of abundance and distribution of sardine in the northwestern Mediterranean

Abstract

A standard series of acoustic evaluation surveys was undertaken during 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1995 and 1996, in order to estimate the abundance and spatial distribution of the sardine in the northwestern Mediterranean (Catalonia and Valencia). The results are compared with the landings of the commercial fleets that exploit this resource in the same zone
