Resumen
The main species targeted by the Spanish cephalopod fleet in the CECAF Area are: octopus (Octopus vulgaris Cuvier, 1797), cuttlefishes (Sepia hierredda Rang, 1835 and Sepia officinalis Linnaeus, 1758) and squid (Loligo vulgaris Lamarck, 1798). This fishery is carried out under the Community licenses, sometimes shared between different fishing grounds, in the territory waters of Mauritania and Guinea-Bissau. Researchers and technicians from the Instituto Español de Oceanografía in Tenerife work in monitoring of these fisheries and analyzing samples from the landings. Working protocol and detailed methodology of the biological sampling are presented.
