abstract = {The document presents a detailed review about the sexual maturity stages scale used for octopus in the Centro Oceanográfico de Canarias (Instituto Español de Oceanografía), in the framework of the European Project Data Collection (Regulation (EC) 1543/2000). The maturity for Octopus vulgaris was determined through macroscopic examination. The description of each stage is based on a modified general scale from Dia (1988), Guerra (1975) and Perales-Raya (2001).},
