Biography

María Virginia Martín is graduate and Ph.D. (Dr. Biological Sciences) from the La Laguna University (Tenerife, Spain). Senior scientist at the IEO (Spanish Institute of Oceanography) with 20 years research experience in aquaculture with main emphasis on lipid nutrition and fatty acid metabolism of fish and cephalopod. Co-author of more than 30 publications has participated in over 20 R&D projects. She is also responsible for Physiology and Genetic Laboratory of Canarias Oceanography Centre, which works in digestive physiology and selection of biomarkers related to stress and metabolism as well as monitoring of indicators of health and animal welfare in fish and cephalopod
